Who are Kent and Kyle Healy? Kent and Kyle Healy are two brothers who want to help young people gather the real-world skills they need to be successful in life. Many of these skills and lessons are not taught in school, despite their importance.
Why did Kent and Kyle write "Cool Stuff" They Should Teach In School? The short answer to this is … because they don’t teach these skills in school. In our mid-teens we started our first business, Reactor Board Technology. Although we were having fun manufacturing skimboards, skateboards, t-shirts, and stickers, we experienced a rude awakening. We realized that we didn’t know the first thing about managing our money, setting goals, controlling our attitude, or planning for the future—along with many other skills.
We figured we had two options: One, learn these skills through the long, painful process of trial and error. Or two, do the research, learn from others, and make it happen! You’ll be happy to know we chose option two.
We then hit the bookstores to find this information. Unfortunately, there was nothing available that explained these life-skills in one book—especially one that was written by young people for young people. It was obvious that a book like this needed to be written and since no one else had done it, we figured we might as well do it.
Countless books, numerous seminars, and hundreds of interviews later, we had a bunch of information and really sore heads. We then collected the best of the information, put our own unique twist on it, and package it in an entertaining and engaging format in our first book called. “Cool Stuff” They Should Teach In School.
How are Kent & Kyle qualified to write books, create audio programs, and host seminars while they're only in their twenties?
We’re qualified to write this book for three reasons: 1) Extensive research: We’ve read countless books, attended numerous seminars, and conducted hundreds of interviews to find the most crucial information.
2) Unique experiences: We’ve lived in ten houses, in seven cities, and in two countries. We’ve attended 5 high schools—some of which we very small (only 32 students), others were big, private, public, nice, and sometimes really rough, where drugs and fights seemed to be more common than teachers.
3) Age relationship with audience: We’re part of the audience we communicate with. We know what we don’t know, but need to learn. And we also know how to communicate in a way that our generation will listen.
Do Kent and Kyle have media experience?
Kent and Kyle have appeared on numerous television programs and well over 100 radio shows. Every appearance is met with great audience involvement and fantastic feedback. Kent and Kyle are unique experts in that they speak to both parents and teenagers. They help parents talk to their teens about the kinds of things they’ll need to know to make it in the real world, and they speak directly to teens about why these skills are so important.
