Overview:
Today, teens and young adults face a multitude of challenges as they grow into young adults and move into the real world. Many young people are not receiving the guidance and life skills training they require from schools or adults to build a foundation of success. This is a serious and growing issue. Where do these millions of young people turn for answers? CSM was specifically created to provide a solution to this problem.
What we're doing:

A series of books

Youth events

A bold and "positive" line of clothing
We were born in San Jose, which is in Northern California. Our first school, a public elementary school in the hills of Cupertino, had fewer than forty students. At ages nine and ten, our lives took a seriously weird turn. We thought, “Our parents must be crazy!” They dragged us halfway around the world to continue our lives in New Zealand! (Yes, it’s the country next to Australia).
In New Zealand we learned to surf, dive, snowboard, wakeboard, and play the national game, rugby. It seemed we were never bored. If we weren’t building downhill mountain bike courses and BMX tracks, then we were managing our surf/skate/skimboard business, or working at the local surf club, or playing sports. We became lifeguards, and both of us patrolled and surfed the local beaches. Our patrol area included a nudist beach, inhabited mostly by old, flabby people—we still have nightmares.
Our lives were always changing. Every day was completely different, and our commitment to sports only made things more complicated. In total, we attended five different high schools, lived in eight different houses, and resided in six different cities. It was exciting, but sometimes it was tough too. “Character building,” some would say. One thing is for sure: We grew up looking at life a little bit differently …
At age 24, Kent is a successful entreprenuer, highly requested speaker, and the author of many books. He discovered his passion as a teenager when he realized that he was not getting taught some very important life-skills in school. To address this problem, he partnered with his brother at age 17 to write his first book, “Cool Stuff” They Should Teach In School. Since the book has been released in 2005 the overwhelming positive feedback drove Kent and his brother to found a publishing company called “Cool Stuff” Media, Inc. (CSM).
Kent is currently a columnist for several newspapers and he also writes feature articles in various magazines across the country. For one year, he composed a weekly half-page feature in the Orange County Register (over 300,000 circulation) that was used by schools throughout Orange County. His writing has caught the attention of internationally recognized authors. Jack Canfield, the co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, invited Kent to write The Success Principles for Teens based on his current international best-selling book, The Success Principles. Kent is also working on more books, creating audio programs, organizing Tele-Courses, and speaking around the country.
He has also been invited on more than 100 radio shows and several TV stations around the country. Kent was selected from people across the nation to be one of ten contestants on a new groundbreaking TV show called, The Messengers. On this show, he competed as the youngest contestant for the title: “America’s Next Great Inspirational Speaker.”

For three San Clemente High School AVID classes, Kent taught a year-long course he created titled, “The Science Of Success.” This course shows the students how to take complete control of their thoughts and actions by understanding the psychology of achievement. He also personally coaches teens and adults to help them reach their full potential.
Kent was part of the Business Honors program and was selected by the Harvard Business School Association to receive a monetary scholarship rewarding his entrepreneurial efforts. Recently, he received membership to Phi Theta Kappa for his dedication to scholarly success. He has spoken to numerous schools and organizations and has a passion for helping other people improve their lives.
In New Zealand, Kent placed in the top two percent of high school students for graphic and industrial design. Kent is also an avid athlete. He holds an advanced Scuba Diver’s License, two national titles for water polo in New Zealand, and worked as a beach lifeguard (NZ) for three years. He was named MVP on his high school varsity swim team. He graduated from Los Altos High School (Northern California) and is currently attending USC.
Kent enjoys surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and the opportunity to travel and experience diverse cultures. He also has an interest in extreme sports—although twenty-four hours a day just isn’t enough time to do it all.
